During student leadership class, students will begin to read children’s books in order become comfortable with public speaking. Time spent leading discussion and sharing out loud is meant to help the class be more at was in front of their peers. This is the third week leadership will be working on communication and commitment.
Along with commitment, all students in leadership must attend a sporting event once a week to show support to FC athletes. Leadership is committed to the FC community completely and wants to lead the Eagle spirit charge.
The first board meeting for the leadership students will be at lunch, Sept. 15. Be sure to ask a student leader what they are working on and how you might be able to help.
Leadership class will be selling Pacifica Pizza at lunch, Sept. 19.
The time has come, once again, for See You at the Pole (SYATP). Since 1990 there has been national day and week of prayer; this year it will be held in the quad at 7 a.m., Sept. 24.
SYATP organizer, Robert Foshee, has set up a time for worship along with praying. The time will be broken up into prayer for the country, the school, other schools and leaders around the city and state.
“It’s an important day that we’ve participated in for the past years that I’ve been here.” Foshee said. “This is an opportunity for us to connect with people around the world for school, the country and leaders around the world. I think its important to focus on prayer and it’s great that students are focusing on that same thing.”
The leadership class is helping set up, serve and clean up the benefit for Isabel Anderson which is a black tie masquerade dinner. Which anyone can attend, it will be at 5 p.m., Oct. 4.
Kim Castiglione, the director of the Isabel Anderson dinner and a FC graduate in 2001, is a friend of the family and has said that there will be life comedians, magicians and dancing.
“Isabelle has a rare brain cancer that she has gone through six weeks of radiation treatment.” Castigilone said. “The organization is to help out the family with raising funds and getting through the hard times.”
Tennis will be playing against Dos Palos at home, Oct. 2.
