FC Underground, Ep. 47 (VIDEO)

The 47th episode of “FC Underground,” covers the week of March 12-17, 2012. “FC Underground” is a weekly segment hosted by Brooke Stobbe, ’12, Callista Fries, ’15, and produced by Austin Rurik, ’12.

The girls begin this episode and congratulate the boys basketball team for a 25-3 season, despite losing to St. Bernard in the State playoffs last week. Fresno City College will be on campus, March 12, to administer placement tests for any community or city colleges in English and math. All students planning to attend California State colleges should write this exam.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday, dodgeball has been organized and players are needed to continue this lunchtime intramural.

The California Scholastic Federation is meeting Friday despite members missing due to the journalism trip to NYC. President Brady Lee will preside over the meeting at lunch.

The premiere fundraising event of the year is Saturday, March 17: The FCS Auction is slated to open its doors at 5 p.m. Donations are still being accepted.

Sign-ups are now being taken at the high school office and athletic department office for powder puff.

The choral department also returned last week from the ACSI Musical Festival in Pasadena at the Lake Avenue Church. They sang in a large choir of 740 plus members and will be singing again Tuesday next week (March 20) at the MENC Choral Festival in the St. Therese Catholic Church.

Finally, The Feather Online staff is in New York City to compete in Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s journalism conference, March 14-16. The staff will compete for a Gold Crown at Columbia University; their highest honor to high school students.

The segments consist of news, interviews, profiles and comments on campus life. Each episode is between two and three minutes in length.

“FC Underground” first ran in the fall of 1997 and continued until the spring of 2001. In the fall of 2009, editor-in-chief Suzanna Quiring, ’10, resumed the series, which was then produced by Paige Powell, ’10. After Quiring and Powell graduated, Stobbe and Casuga took up the job until this year.

    It’s great to be a part of this club. The vision Gee and Stephanie had to start it is being realized with a large number of students participating.
