After touring the Big Apple for two days and attending the 88th annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) conference, the Feather attends the final day of competition, March 16.
Five chaperons and adviser Greg Stobbe led 23 staff members to Manhattan for six days on the bi-annual trip, March 11-17. This, the final day, gave seniors Brooke Stobbe and David Casuga the opportunity present a session: “Broadcast Your Voice: Learn How to Podcast” while seniors Mary Hierholzer and Nick Avery shared “Relieving the Experience With The Feather Online” in their workshop.
This installment of Newsies in NY includes a group of Feather staffers presenting sessions and workshops at the convention, staffers around the Columbia University campus, the CSPA awards ceremony, including a recap of the week.
The group of 23 students and six adults met at the Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) to take a red-eye flight to John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in NYC, March 11. Throughout the trip, students toured various locations on Manhattan from Ellis Island and Soho to Columbia University.
While the majority of the staff is gone for the week, those who remain are challenged with the task of updating the newspaper and informing the student body of weekly events.
The Feather staff in New York returned to San Jose via JetBlue from KFK, landing in California late March 17.
