Dodgeball: Eagle Intramurals (VIDEO)

Throughout the week of March 12-16, Student Leadership hosted dodgeball intramurals during lunch in the FC Gym as a fun activity for the student body. Last semester, leadership hosted volleyball and decided that dodgeball would be a nice contrast.

During the school year, intramurals typically take place to break up the monotones lunches in the courtyard with sports such as basketball and badminton. In order to keep the student body interested, Leadership decided to bring back dodgeball.

Senior Austin Rurik coordinated the event and said he anticipated a large turn out from the student participation; this is the second year Student Leadership has hosted dodgeball intramurals.

Sign-ups were held in front of the high school office for participants to sign their respective team up for the event. Even if individuals did not sign-up, leadership would allow students to come and play as well.

Teams consisted of five players, which allowed each student to get fair playtime. Each match only lasted for 10 minutes, thus many different teams were able to participate in the event.

Since seniors have off-campus lunch passes, the students who participated in dodgeball were predominately sophomores with a fair amount of freshman and juniors.

Although the intention was for the intramurals to last the entire week, due to gym scheduling conflict, dodgeball only took place on two days.
