An angry Navy sailor with an explosive temperament is ordered to see Jerome Davenport, a psychiatrist played by Denzel Washington, in order to step his violent behavior. Antwone Fisher, portrayed by Derek Luke, is on the verge of being dismissed for fighting.

With the support of father figure, Davenport, and his romantic interest, Cheryl (Joy Bryant), Fisher finds the courage to stop fighting. Only then can he come to terms with his abandonment and abuse issues from his childhood.

Antwone Fisher opened in theatres Jan. 10 and has grossed $10.4 million in less than a week. The Paramount picture is Washington’s directorial debut.
