The fifth episode of “FC Underground, 2012-13” covers the week of Sept. 10-14, 2012. This is sophomore Callista Fries’ first year hosting the show alone. FC Underground is a weekly segment hosted by Fries and is produced by senior Juan Ruelas.
Woodshop students, there will be no zero period on Tuesday, Sept. 11
First, congratulations to the high school volleyball team for its exciting, come-from-behind victory in a match against the Knights of Stone Ridge Christian High School.
After dropping the first two games, the lady Eagles won the last three. The HS football team also won its game against Riverdale HS on Friday night. The Eagles trailed for most of the game but surged in the 4th quarter with two touchdown passes to win the game, 27-26.
The sports calendar is full again this week with several games and events scheduled for multiple sports:
HS volleyball will play Sierra HS at 5:30 in the FC gym, Tuesday Sept. 11.
Fall sports pictures will be at 2 p.m. in the FC gym. Players should have their uniforms at school. Picture order envelopes will be available Mon. and Tues. at practice, Thurs. Sept. 13
There is a football game this Friday at Tranquillity, stating at 7, Sept. 14.
The Fresno Area College Night, 2012, will take place Wed. Sept. 12 at 5:30pm at the New Convention Center Exhibit Hall.
The American Sign Language Club will have a meeting this Wed. at lunch in room 604.
Sister to Sister lunch, come and meet your little sister! Bring your lunch and have a sit down with her in room 628, Tues. Sept. 11.
Spanish Club will have a meeting this Fri. Sept. 14 in room 603.

The segments consist of news, interviews, profiles and comments on campus life. Each episode is between two and three minutes in length.
“FC Underground” first ran in the fall of 1997 and continued until the spring of 2001. In the fall of 2009, editor-in-chief Suzanna Quiring, ’10, resumed the series, which was then produced by Paige Powell, ’10. After Quiring and Powell graduated, Brooke Stobbe and David Casuga took up the job until the end the 2011-’12 school year. Now, Fries and Bender have continued the segments.

Congratulations to Mr. Callisch! I’m so proud of your perseverance and your courage to break away from such a successful teaching career and start an entirely new adventure: Flip Flops! Who’d have thought? Way to go Sir! Can’t wait to visit your shop in a couple of weeks!
