The FC Eagles played two matches against the Minarets Mustangs, Sept. 22 in the Sunnyside Tournament, losing both matches.

In the first match, Minarets lead the whole game as their defense stifled the Eagles. The Mustangs won the first game, 25-18. In the second game, FC stepped up their game with accurate serves and blocks. However, despite their efforts, the Eagles lost by four points, 25-21.

FC and Minarets played three games in the second match. In the first game, Minarets defeated the Eagles by five points, 25-20. In the second game, the Eagles changed their game plans and strategies, defeating the Mustangs, 25-21. The last game was crucial for both teams as it determined the winning team. Both teams tried their best to win; however, the Mustangs were able to defeat the Eagles by utilizing their outside hitters, 15-7.

According to junior Annaleah Madison, she is satisfied with the game despite the lose, since the team learned valuable lessons.

“The game against Minarets was a great help for our team,” Madison said. “It showed us what we need to work on before season starts. It was a good experience for us, because we learned how to work together to see what would work the best.”

Freshman Olivia Quebe says that volleyball is mainly a mental game. It is important for the team to be prepared mentally more than anything else.

“Volleyball is a mental game,” Quebe said. “So we need to be little bit more mentally tough and we are looking forward to playing as one team. We have a solid team this year and if we are willing to work hard, I am confident that we are going to do great when season starts.”

The Eagles are currently 2-6 overall and will next host two home matches: Parlier High School, Oct. 2, and Fowler High, Oct. 4, to open their West Sequoia League season.
