Volleyball sport shorts: Riverdale

The FC Eagles played against the Riverdale Cowgirls for the last game of the season, Nov. 2. FC dominated from the beginning with digs and blocks, defeating the Cowgirls in the first game, 25-18. In the second game, the Eagles beat Riverdale, 25-18, by focusing on serves and defense. The third game was similar to the previous games, as FC won, 25-19.

According to freshman Olivia Quebe, she is satisfied with the win. Even though she was nervous to play at varsity level in the beginning of the season, she appreciates her teammates for welcoming her and teaching her valuable lessons.

“I had a lot of fun this season,” Quebe said. “I was a little scared playing at varsity level as a freshman, but everyone welcomed me with open arms and I learned so much. Overall, I think we had a successful season and I really enjoyed playing with every single one of my teammates.”

Senior captain Bri Graff says that she is proud of her teammates for winning against Riverdale. Even though she is disappointed that the season is over, she is looking forward to playoffs.

“I am so proud of my team for defeating Riverdale,” Graff said. “We worked so hard all season and winning the last game was a nice way to end the season. I am really sad that this is my last year, but I am confident that we are going to do great in the playoffs. We just need to work hard and finish strong.”

The Eagles were scheduled to host the Alpaugh Buffaloes, for their first playoff game, Nov. 6. However, the game was cancelled the day before.
