EAGLES TAKE EARLY LEAD, DEFEAT WARRIORS–68-32, Dec. 11
FC traveled to Merced to take on the Warriors of Stone Ridge Christian, Dec. 13. The Eagles came out victorious, winning 68-32.
FC took the lead off a steal at the beginning of the game and continued to press hard. Chris Grossman and Jordan Boudreau lead the team in scoring with 13 and 11 points respectively. Other contributions came from Brandon McCormick (7 points) and Trevor Beal (9 points)
Jesse Johnston was the high scorer for Stone Ridge, leading the Knights with 15 points.
Head boys’ basketball coach Robert Hubbard says the win was a good confidence builder but that they still have a ways to go to reach their goals for the season.
“We really needed a win,” Hubbard said. “It was a good confidence builder for our team. However, we still need to work on our fundamentals and the basics of playing as a team if we want to reach where we got to last season.”
Freshman John Anguiano, who had 7 points off the bench, says the team is on the right track with a win under their belt.
“It was a good win,” Anguiano said. “We needed that win as a team. It’s a good confidence builder heading into our next tournament. We just need to hustle and play hard if we want to win games.”
The Eagles will next travel to Reedley, where FC will take on Hanford West, Dec. 18.
