(Scrimmages do not count toward win/loss record. Visit the Sports Section for girls’ soccer features). For a simple overview of scores and upcoming games, check the Winter sport box scores, 2012-13, for dates, opponents and times for all Eagle sports.

Be sure to visit the 2012-13 girls’ soccer schedule, home page, or check out Maxpreps.com. FC is currently 2-3 in the West Sequoia League and 7-8-1 overall as of Jan. 29. The Eagles will next host the Fowler Redcats.

EAGLES LOOSE TO COWBOYS, 1-0

The eagles played the Riverdale Cowboys soccer team the first time this season hoping for a positive outcome. FC welcomed the team at home, Jan. 23.

As FC continued to play on the field, they were unable to stop the Cowboys’ first goal at the start of the game. Incapable of also scoring a goal during the second half, the Cowboys left with a win, 1-0.

Senior Jessica Healy expresses her displeasure in losing against the Cowboys. Wanting to come back from the past games, Healy was heart-broken over the loss.

“During the game our team wasn’t playing our best and talking about it afterwards we knew we could have played better,” Healy said. “It was disappointing because we didn’t want to lose to Riverdale. We wanted to come back from our previous game and we weren’t able to.”

Confident that this game was a wake-up call for the players, Healy is looking forward to the rest of the season. Being a senior, Healy is hopeful that the team will improve and be able to make it all the way to playoffs.

“I think after that game we are pretty pumped up now,” Healy said. “We will hopefully do a lot better now in the rest of our season because we really want to get to playoffs. I hope that we win most, if not all, the rest of our games.”

Assistant coach, Jose Jimenez was discouraged when the team came out for the game distracted and dull before the game. Jimenez is expecting the team to come back out the same way the team started the season off.

“I don’t think the team played to their full potential; for some reason we did not come out as strong as we normally do,” Jimenez said. “The bad thing is the team has continued not coming out as strong to games and it has been happening for the past two to three games now. Hopefully when we play Fowler and we go back to what we used to play.”

With the season rapidly coming to an end, Jimenez is staying optimistic that the team will come back and finish off the season in high spirits. Only with a few skills to work on, Jimenez believes that the team will have a shot at winning.

“I think everyone individually is good,” Jimenez said. “We have to work a lot more on getting back together as a team. By learning how to open up the field and pass a little more and I think that we will do better. Hopefully its not too late to come back in the season.”

The Eagles will next take on the Riverdale Cowboys in West Sequoia League matchup, Feb. 4.
