GIRLS’ SOCCER SPORT SHORTS, 2012-13–

Be sure to visit the 2012-13 girls’ soccer schedule, home page, or check out Maxpreps.com. FC is currently 2-5 in the West Sequoia League and 7-10-1 overall as of Feb. 1. The Eagles will next travel to Parlier High School, Feb. 4.
FC HOSTS CARUTHERS, LOOSES 3-0
After loosing to Caruthers, 1-0, the first time they faced them, the Eagles came out hoping to break Caruthers’s perfect record. But the Eagles couldn’t get a shot on goal, and failed to keep the Blue Raiders from scoring, Feb. 1.
The Blue Raiders were able to beat our defense, putting in a goal before the end of the first half, bring the score against the Eagles, 1-0.
The second half, the Eagles came back stronger, using better defense, but still failed to hold the Raiders. Caruthers was able to score twice in the second half, ending the game with another win towards their perfect season, 3-1.
Head Coach Tony Martinez, felt that the team played better than they had in past games, but still needs to pick up their game in order to reach playoffs.
Goalie Annalise Rosik, ’14, reflects on the game’s aggressivness against one of the hardest teams in the league.
“We all really wanted to win the game, but I think our passion got the best of us and we kind of fell apart,” Rosik said. “It was a frustrating outcome. I really think the team learned from it so in the larger view of our season I think it will help us.”
