Goin Pro Ep. 14 (PODCAST)

Every day something new happens in the world of sports. A game is played, a practice is run, a transaction is completed, etc. Whether pro, college, or high school sports, there is always something going on.

Sophomore Christopher Grossman and rookie teacher Eric Witters have joined forces to bring the patrons of The Feather Online a new podcast about all things sports dubbed “Goin Pro”. The duo analyzes the ongoings of things in the sports world and then regurgitates them with their own opinions in an up-beat, conversational style.

The duo starts off their 14th podcast by discussing the playoff race in the NBA, recapping the Super Bowl, and analyzing the initial results of the NHL season. Just as in the last episode, journalism advisor Greg Stobbe bursts into the room once the National Hockey League is mentioned.

Grossman and Witters start off with talk of the NBA and how loaded some teams are compared to others, in terms of talent. In a league with awful teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks, the Washington Wizards, the Charlotte Bobcats, and the Detroit Pistons, powerhouses such as the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat hold monopoly over the game. The two hosts discuss the fairness of this presence following years of serious competition among many teams.

Next, the co-hosts recap the Super Bowl, which the Baltimore Ravens won over the San Francisco 49ers. Debatable officiating and irregular performances by star players provide topic of discussion.

Finally, the two end with talk of the NHL. The Chicago Blackhawks have continued their dominant ways, only having one loss: an overtime contest against the Vancouver Canucks. Journalism advisor Greg Stobbe gives his take on the recent action and how things might play out.

PODCAST: Hockey, basketball, and Super Bowl provide discussion: Feb. 8 , 2013–
