The Fresno Christian boys basketball team travelled to Riverdale High School. to play the Cowboys for their last away game of the season. The Eagles lost to the Cowboys by three the first time they played them at home, and were looking to capture a road victory of their own.
The Eagles were fired up and scored quickly, getting to an early lead and building on it. At one point in the first, FC lead 13-3. They finished the quarter with a seven point advantage. In the second, The Cowboys managed to bring to keep it close as they continued to work hard. However, the Eagles ended the half on a quick run and went into the break leading 32-18.
In the third, both teams came out extremely aggressive, as Riverdale struggled to win on their home court. At one point, FC led by as many as twenty, but the Cowboys kept it as close as they could, and at the end of the third, the Eagles led by 14. In the fourth, FC finished the job and won handily, 56-36.
With the victory, FC improves to 10-13 overall and 4-4 in West Sequoia League play, moving them up to third in the standings. Rivardale falls to 4-17 with a 1-7 record in WSL play.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Junior Caleb Nale who had 25 points.
The Eagles head coach Robert Hubbard is very proud of how the team played and now the guys have their eyes set on playoffs.
“I felt really proud of our guys for the win over Riverdale,” Hubbard said. “Riverdale beat us at home earlier in the season so it was nice to get them at their place. Everyone on our roster played a key role in securing the victory. It would be nice to see what this group could do given the opportunity to participate in playoffs. I think we’re playing good basketball right now and we could be a tough match up to some teams. My goal is to finish strong in our two remaining league games and see if we get that opportunity.”
The Eagles next game will be home as they host the Parlier Panthers.
