EAGLES FALL TO LEAGUE OPPONENT IN TOUGH MATCHUP, April 12
On a windy spring afternoon, the Fresno Christian Eagles baseball team travelled to Caruthers High School to take on the Blue Raiders. For both teams it would be their third WSL game and both were needing a win in order to stay amongst the top in the standings.
Freshman Tyler Breedlove took the hill for the Eagles while Dallin Cornelious took the ball for the Blue Raiders. In the first, the Eagles managed to load the bases with nobody out, but failed to capitalize as they only brought home one run. In the bottom half of the inning, The Blue raiders jumped out to a four run lead, with the help of a three-run home run, and never looked back. With the wind blowing out to straight-away center, the Blue Raiders hit multiple home runs as the score continued to climb.
The Eagles would remain scoreless for the rest of the game while Caruthers would continue to find success with the bat. The Eagles fell to the Blue Raiders 20-1 in five innings due to time concerns.
Freshman Timothy Nyberg says that the game did not go that well, but they must move on and get the next opponent.
“It was a pretty ugly game.” Nyberg said, ” Caruthers is a very good team and we just need a little more practice, but we should play better against Minarets on friday and get back to .500 in League.”
The Eagles next game will be on Friday as the team travels to Minarets High School to take on the Mustangs.
