EAGLES DROP LEAGUE GAME TO DIVISION LEADER, April 26

For the second time this season the Fresno Christian Eagles baseball team played the Caruthers Blue Raiders, April 26.

In the first inning, Freshman Bailey Brogan led off, hitting a triple. He scored the lone Eagle run when Aaron DeWolf, ’15, hit him in. After batting, Senior Matt Jenkins pitched the first two innings with an impressive side arm to barely hold off the Blue Raiders.

After the seconnd inning Jenkins was replaced by Sophomore Matt Ely who did not last long and was soon relieved by Senior Nate Bender. Nate lead the team to the fifth inning with only a few more runs lost.

Senior JP Caprioglio finished the game on the mound for the Eagles. The Eagles excelled in the field but were unable to carry their talent to hitting. The Eagles could not gain momentum offensively and lost their fifth straight league game, 6-1.

Senior Domminic Mendoza was proud of how the team and himselff played but was disapointed of the scracity of runs.

“We played very well considering they were a tough opponent,” Mendoza said. “I played rather well, there is always room for improvement and I accept the challenge but all in all we played well. I thought we played well as a team, we just need to build on what we learned thruoghout the year. We grew as a team today and im proud that we gave it our best shot.”

The loss drops the Eagles to 2-11 overall and 1-5 in league.

The Eagles will next take on the Fowler Redcats, April 30.
