EAGLES DROP TOUGH ROAD GAME TO WSL OPPONENT, April 30
The Fresno Christian baseball team travelled to Fowler High School to take on the Redcats for the second and final time, April 30. After being beaten the first time, the Eagles were looking for a better outcome the second time around.
Senior Matt Jenkins took the mound for the Eagles, but struggled early. After walking two straight hitters, he was quickly replaced by Nate Bender. The Redcats, however, still had success with the bat as they put up eight in the first. The Eagles, meanwhile, struggled offensively as they only got two hits throughout the afternoon.
Junior David Ryu later came into the game and lasted two innings, but Fowler still managed to get on base and come around to score. After five innings, the game was called due to time, as the Eagles fell 16-0 for their sixth loss in WSL play.
Freshman Tim Nyberg says the team could have played better, but respects Fowler’s athletic ability.
“We were well prepared but I think the other team wanted it more. “Nyberg said, “In general, i think they were a more talented team. Our pitching could’ve been better and we were lazy out in the field and didn’t make the plays we should have.”
The Eagles next game will be on Friday, May 3, against the Minarets Mustangs as the team will have Senior Night to honor its seniors.
