How To: Up-Cycle an old t-shirt

With less than a week left in school, it means one of two things. The weather is getting awfully hot and get a new summer wardrobe to help cope with extreme temperatures in the valley.

Now, we all know that buying new clothes can be pretty expensive. But what about re-creating a new wardrobe with the clothes you already have? It is very simple, and a great way to save money.

What you will need:
1. Tee shirt (I recomend at least one size larger than what you would normally wear)
2. Scissors

Directions:
1. Lay shirt out and smooth out any wrinkles in the fabric.

2. Start off by cutting the sleeves off. Cut to the inside of the seam for a more accurate cut.

3. Cut the neckline about half an inch form the seam.

4. Flip the shirt over and cut the sides about 4-5 inches up.

5. Cut the fabric across the back up to where you cut the sides.

6. Keep the front of the shirt facing down and cut a straight line through the middle up to the end of the back of the shirt.

7. Cut the bottom corners of the shirt, so that you are left with a V-shaped front.

8. Put it on and tie the front.

9. Additional cutting around the sleeves or neckline may be done to make the sleeves slimmer or neckline lower.

This quick and easy activity will make for a cute summer shirt without having to spend a cent.
