As the entered the third match, the Eagles finished off McLane winning the game, 25-16.
Varsity coach Jonathan Penberthy sees these games as opportunities for the girls to improve on simple skills.
“Games like the one against McLane give the players an opportunity to work on simple things like free balls and serve receive,” coach Penberthy said. “It also gives them an opportunity to improve their stats.”
Senior Gabriela Siqueiros felt that the team played okay, but still was not satisfied.
“I think that when we play teams who aren’t up to our level, we tend to not play to our fullest potential,” Siqueiros said. “We need to do better at putting all our focus into every play and every point. That’s what will help us win games.”
Junior Brittany Bender felt the team is beginning to improve on some of the goals the girls set for themselves.
“We still could work on our communication on the court,” Bender said. “But I still feel that we did really good at being on our toes and being encouraging to one another.”
The Eagles next game is against the Paramount Academy Wolves Sept. 4.
