EAGLES DROP HOME OPENER TO LARGER TEAM, Sept. 13

The Vacaville Christian Falcons visited Eagle Field to participate in FC’s home opener, Sept. 13. The Falcons, though normally an eleven-man team, played 8-man ball for friday night’s contest. The game was played despite an explosion before the game, as the propane tank in a snack bar caught fire and then imploded. After a scoreless first quarter, the Falcons put up 28 points in the second, taking the halftime lead. They managed to put up another 13 points in the third, while the Eagles scored their lone touchdown. In the fourth, Vacaville tacked on another touchdown before the end of regulation, the final score being 48-8.

Head coach Mick Fuller, was content with their effort but say?s they need to fix some major functions on the team.

“The team played hard,? said Fuller. “Vacaville is a good team and they outplayed us on friday night. With the knowledge that there are teams better than us, I hope the team uses it as something to fight for as the season progresses.”

Sophomore Chris Kollenkark was happy with how he played and hopes for the best in next weeks game.

“I thought we played well,” Kollenkark said. “I gave a hundred percent on every play and it just wasn’t enough for a win. The team played well considering how experienced the other team was. By going out to practice everyday and not messing around I hope that the team will improve and become a better unit as a whole.”

Junior Adam Khouzam was ecstatic with his touchdown and made it his goal to give his full effort, no matter the number of minutes he played.

“I was super pumped that I got a touchdown,” said Khouzam. “Since i didn’t get much playing time, each time I went in I gave it my all and it finally payed off with the only touchdown of the game. As a team we played well but we let up after the first quarter which was when Vacaville made their move, plowing straight through our defense.”

The Eagles will next play the Coast Union Broncos on Sept. 20.
