EAGLES PULL OFF HUGE HOME VICTORY, Oct. 18

The Eagles hosted the Faith Christian Warriors in their seventh game, Oct. 18. The Eagles were coming off of a home victory against Maricopa High School.

The Eagles and the Warriors combined for 21 points in the first 3 minutes, and the scoring would not slow down. The Eagles pulled away throughout the game, eventually winning 76-12.

Head Coach Mick Fuller and the other coaches were pleased with the chance for the younger players on the team to recieve playing time.

“The game against Faith Christian was a good opportunity for the younger players to get significant playing time,” said Fuller. “The coaches were pleased with their performance as well as the outcome of the game. It is important to keep improving the players’ understanding and execution of their assignments.”

Sophomore Chris Kollenkark led the team with 77 yards rushing off of six carries for four touchdowns.

“It was a really fun game,” Kollenkark said. “Scoring four touchdowns for the team was awesome, because obviously that’s not something that happens for me every game, so the opportunity to get those carries and play such a big role in our offense felt great.”

The Feather had a chance to catch up with quarterback Rick Morrison, ’15, after the game.

Kollenkark feels that although the team played well and got the win, they should never stop pressing on.

“We’re working on staying together as a team and just going hard at practice, and the results are already showing,” said Kollenkark.

Faith Christian was led by their quarterback Joshua Johannson, who ended the game on a 65 yard touchdown run.

The Eagles were led defensively by sophomore Joshua Freeman, who had seven tackles. Juniors Nick Morrison and Daniel Valdez both had an interception, sophomore Sawyer Bachman had two fumble recoveries, and an additional fumble was recovered by Slater Wade, ’17.

The Eagles will next play their homecoming game, against Riverdale Christian, Oct. 25.
