In order to serve the community, the homecoming court is traveling to Children’s Hospital Central California, Nov. 6. The students will be gone from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Homecoming queen Hannah Avila, king Kyle Hudecek, senior princess Annalise Rosik, junior princess Elise Winegarden, sophomore princess Alli Breedlove and freshman princess Sydney Belmont, along with leadership advisors Vicky Belmont and Robert Foshee will be visiting with the children at Valley Children’s, showing their care and giving out gifts.
Plastic tiaras, paper crowns and rubber ducks were ordered for the homecoming court to pass out and crown the kids at the hospital. Pictures of the candidates from the evening were also edited in a sketch mode in order to make a coloring book to pass out to the kids.
The heart for the trip is simply to shed love on the hospitalized children and spend time with them. Avila came up with the idea to attend the hospital but gives all the credit to God for helping her make it possible.
“The idea was a total Jesus idea,” Avila said. “I thought of the idea the weekend after I was crowned queen. I wanted to help the community some how by representing Fresno Christian. I love kids & I thought it would be amazing to go to Children’s hospital dressed up as queen, princesses and a king to make the kids smile. The dream definitely would not have become reality with out the help of Mr. Foshee and Mrs. Belmont. I thank The Lord for the idea and for putting people in my way that could make the dream possible.”
Belmont is very grateful for Avila coming up with this idea. She is thrilled with the event and hopes to continue it with the upcoming courts.
“Hannah suggested it and I think it is a great idea to go and share a little bit of Fresno Christian with Valley Children’s and the kids there,” Belmont said. “I would really like to keep this going for the upcoming courts and make it a tradition for the school.”
Breedlove is very enthusiastic about visiting the children. She is excited to see the kids reaction and is proud to be a part of this experience.
“I’m excited to go,” Breedlove said. “I think it’s a good idea to go because it gives little kids a chance to see a princess or queen in person without having to leave the hospital. They get to see their favorite fairytale come true so it’s going to be a great experience.”
