Countless hours of hard work culminate in the ensemble’s last project of recording their annual CD. A compilation of songs from the year, the CD provides numerous memories of the year for the members.
“The CD is a good keepsake,” Marc Ferguson, ensemble director, said. “It allows them to remember their songs from the year and the fun times that followed. It is also a good way for the public to be able to hear our music.”
Recording the CD involves concentration and dedication, but members feel it is worth the effort.
“Putting together a CD is hard work,” Jordan Logoluso, ’03, said. “We have to get everything perfect in the song so we have to keep doing it over until we get it right. Having the CD to listen to later is definitely worth the effort.”
This year, the CD will not only include songs from this year but will also include favorites from previous years.
“The compilation is meant to show the talent of the group through the years,” Ferguson said. “A few of the members have been in the group for several years and the compilation is a way for them to have their favorite songs from the different years on one CD.”
Starting the year with several new members, this year the group had to overcome the challenge of coming together. Although the task was difficult at times, many members feel that the new members overcame the obstacle.
“A lot of seniors left last year,” Emily Goertzen, ’04, said. “We thought it was going to be hard to fill their positions, but the new members that came into the group really stepped up. The group ended up coming together and we were able to blend very well.”
Ensemble and choir will next perform for the annual Spring Concert at the First Congregational Church on Van Ness at 7:30 p.m. The group will then record their CD on May 16.
