Every year, California Scholarship Federation (CSF) provides assistance to students who needs help in academic work in the campus community. Each student receives tutoring sessions from a qualified CSF student for free every Wednesday after school from 3-4 p.m. in the computer lab.
Any CSF members can volunteer to tutor for service hours as long as they know the teaching material. Outside of CSF free tutoring, the members can also offer extra tutoring sessions to others for $10 an hour.
However, this school year, a lack of students in need for CSF tutoring challenges the tutoring services. President of CSF, Lucas Lopez, ’14, is concerned due to the problem posed by vacancy in tutoring.
“I think students at the campus simply forgot that CSF tutoring still exists,” Lopez said. “We are ready to assist every Wednesday after school except for half days.”
The head tutor of CSF tutoring, Jason Kim, ’14, emphasizes the importance of maintaining the service for individuals. Kim says, the promotion from the school is greatly needed.
“Students sometimes do not realize the great privileges that CSF offers,” Kim said. “Free tutoring is an essential benefit to our community, speaking of that I would also like to have more tutors come out.”
Daniel Moore, ’14, has served as a tutor for many years now, believing the club provides a great program.
“I really appreciate the tutoring service because I can receive free service hours while helping other students with my knowledge,” Moore said. “I will often come out to tutor students on Wednesday’s if my schedule works.”
CSF tutoring will be available every Wednesday after school with the exception of half days. In addition, there will be a meeting for CSF members in room 621 during lunch, Jan. 29. For more information, please contact the school office or Michelle Warkentin in her office.
