EAGLES ARE DEFEATED BY MINARETS, LOSE THIRD LEAGUE GAME
With the third game in the league and having the advantage of a home game, the Eagles play against the Mustang Minarets, Jan. 22. Not having played against the Mustangs during this season yet, the Eagles did not know what to expect from this team.
With the ball in our favor for the start of the game, the Eagles were able to keep the pressure and managed to kick a ball, ricocheting off their defense for a goal. Before the end of the first half, the Mustangs were able to pass the ball over the defense and sneak in a goal, ending the half (1-1).
After the head coach Tony Martinez gave a pep talk to the Eagles, the girls came out determined to win. As the Mustangs challenged the ball, they were able to kick from outside the 18 yard line and slide a ball into the top right corner.
“It was a tough game,” Martinez said. “We started slow and never really got into sync with each other. It definitely was a learning experience for is in that we need to be prepared mentally and physically.”
Feeling the pressure, the Eagles crossed the ball across the goal, where junior Gaby Siqueiros side kicked it into the goal, tying the score (2-2) before the game ended.
As the game was nearing the end, the Eagles started to lose energy and let down their guard for the Mustangs to score another goal, ending the final score (3-2) for the Mustang Minarets.
