BRIEF: Career Fair scheduled, March 11

[/media-credit] Almond farmer John Nale is one of 12 speakers at this year’s Career Fair, March 11.

The FC Career Fair is a yearly event allowing students, especially juniors and seniors, to learn about a variety of different careers. This event has been continued for four years now, and is on March 11.

Lled by Academic Advisor Michelle Warkentin, the half day of instruction provides exposure for students to learn about careers that they may be interested in pursuing.

Warkentin, having started this event, encourages students to use this opportunity for their future well being.

“It is always nice for students to hear from professionals firsthand about the career they have chosen,” Warkentin said. “This allows students to understand what a real day looks like in their shoes and will hopefully expose them to both the good and bad aspects of the job so they understand what they are potentially getting into early on before it is too late.”

There are a number of speakers attending this event, they are as follows:

Session 1, 12:50-1:20:
Amanda Venegas-Reporter-ABC 30 (601/603)
Robyn Hill- Ultrasound Technician- CRMC (602/604)

Christie Edmondson- Speech Pathologist-Fresno Diagnostic Therapy (606/608)

Dorothy Siqueiros-Occupational Therapist-CRMC (606/608)
Scott Belmont- Senior Gas Estimator (Engineering/Estimating)-PG&E (621/623)

A handful of students are attending, but even though the number is limited, most students think that the fair is beneficial. Nick Fontes, ’15, shares his opinions of the importance of career fair.

“No, I am not attending the career fair this year, and I haven’t before,” Fontes said. “But, I think it is very important to attend career fair because it is an opportunity to gauge your interests in various fields. This will hopefully help you find out what you want to do in the future.”

The week of March 9 bell schedule will go as follows:
Monday: Wednesday Schedule
Tuesday: Tuesday Schedule
Wednesday: Half Day Schedule, followed by career fair in the afternoon
Thursday: Thursday Schedule
Friday: Friday Schedule
