Last season, the Fresno State men’s soccer team found themselves holding fundraisers for the team, so they would still be able to play. The university had cut the program due to budget cuts. While the FC soccer team may not be in as dire straights, but the players are doing what they can to raise money for the team.
The team is holding a golf tournament at Fig Garden Golf Course on Oct. 26, for all students and sponsors, to come out, golf and to interact with the soccer players.
To make the tournament exiting, golfers are given the opportunity to choose which soccer player they want to be their caddie. There are prizes for the first, second, and third place teams on the long drive and closes to the pin.
“We are holding it just to raise some money for the team,” Matthew Markarian, soccer coach, said. “Depending on how much money we make, we are hoping to buy new uniforms and equipment. I am definitely looking forward to it.”
Caddies must be reserved for the Oct. 26 tournament and is on a first come, first-serve basis. To reserve a caddie go to [email protected], [email protected] or call 445-1190. The cost for the tournament is $75.00 and includes golf, caddie and tee prize.
