Dear editor:

The November 20 online article, “Southern California fires prompt service opportunities,” by Melinda Davis, is a really good article. I think it is awesome that the elementary kids did this. It shows what good hearts they have and how much they care.

I think it is very sad that only a few high school students donated, and now that I look back, I wish I had donated something, even something little, because the little things can make a difference.

It was so brave of the students to get this organized and send class representatives into our classes to gather donations. I know that back when I was in elementary school, I would have been terrified to go into a high school class and speak in front of them.

These kids did a great job representing their project and telling us what needed to be told. It makes me happy to know that we have such great elementary students at our school.
