For the week of Sept. 22-26, about 60 elementary girls gathered together to learn stunts, defensive and offensive cheers, a big cheer and a group dance.
They practiced after school in the Peoples Church gym each day for 90 minutes. The high pitched screams and echos bounced off the walls. The excitement on the girls’ faces lit up the gym.
With the help of the junior high, junior varsity and varsity cheer squads leading the girls to each station, the girls were able to perform each cheer and dance that they had learned for the Sept. 26 varsity football game.
Sophomore Chelsea Kitahara, right center, and freshman Lisa Lumeya, left center, jumped in with their group to learn each cheer.
