A few seconds ahead of the peloton, Tyler Hamilton, from left to right, Serge Pauwels and Jason McCartney lead the way through Old Town Clovis during Stage 4 of the Amgen Tour of California.

The three riders maintained up to more than a five-minute lead that slowly diminished only two miles from the crowded streets of downtown Clovis, Feb. 18.

Although the riders did not finish first, Hamilton received Amgen?s Breakaway from Cancer? Most Courageous Rider jersey. He received the award for demonstrating the characteristics of someone fighting cancer, demonstrating courage, willpower and endurance.
