The end of freshman year brings about changes in many ways. For Tim Broome, ’12, right, the climax of his experience came about in Greg Stobbe’s, center, English 1 Honors class as he portrayed the role of Romeo, in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
Broome’s gradual educational process began the first week of the year in Stobbe’s class discussion. When inquired upon to answer a question, he responded with a mumble and set his head down on the table, as to avoid all attention. The reaction received much publicity from Stobbe, who re-told the story countless times, and from then on, encouraged Broome to break out of his self-imposed silence.
Stobbe recognized the ground-breaking opportunity when choosing students to role-play Shakesperian sweethearts. Rallied by cheers from fellow classmates, Broome knelt before Gigi Thao and recited the famous balcony scene, May 15.
