Although taking a break from home ec during the summer, senior Tyler Revis, left, could not wait to start cooking up delicious delectables again.
“Tyler was very excited about learning how to make homemade jam, so he picked up Andrew McCormick (’10) and came out to my house when I had a bucket of plums and peaches. I taught them the art of jam making,” home ec. teacher Sharon Scharf said.
Though the process was time-consuming, Revis and McCormick sliced, stirred and simmered their creation patiently in anticipation of the delight to come.
“It was really fun going to Scharf’s house to make jam over the summer,’ McCormick said. “One night Revis called me and asked me if I wanted to go [to Scharf’s house] and I said ‘of course I do’. It took a long time but it was worth it.”
Revis agreed with McCormick and both thought nothing of extending their home economics experience over the break.
“Going to Mrs. Scharf’s house was awesome,” Revis said. “I had a wonderful time learning how to make jam. Mrs. Scharf is so much fun and an extreme blessing in my life.”
