During the fall sports kick-off dinner and carnival, Aug. 29, freshman Chantelle Brown, left, and sophomore Brandi Thompson used their athletic prowess to enhance the elementary kids’ sliding experience.

“Brandi and I thought the kids weren’t going fast enough on the slide, so we took matters into their own hands,” Brown said. “We asked Coach [Bonner] Cunnings’ daughter, Lilly Cunnings [center], if she would like us to throw her into the slide to go faster and she agreed happily.”

Although Brown and Thompson had retreated to the water slide to avoid the heat, in the end they relished the opportunity to make Cunnings giggle.

“Brandi and I picked her up at the same time, counted to three and tossed her away!” Brown said. “This was fun because I like playing with little kids and my spirit just lights up when I make them happy.”
