The home ec students made cookies to send to troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ben Catron, a 2001 campus graduate, is stationed on the Pakistan border of Iraq. He is married to FC graduate Emily Jones and is part of the 10th Mountain deployed from Fort Drum, New York.
“I feel it is so important to bless our troops – let them know we care and are praying for them,” Scharf said. “Having a son-in-law who has been Iraq twice, and a nephew who was deployed to Afghanistan, I know how much it means to the troops to receive ‘random’ blessings from people they don’t even know.
The art students will also be making cards of encouragement for the troops. Some of the troops never receive any mail from home at all.
