During the physics and A.P. Biology classes, two Marines came to speak in the science lab classroom and gave presentations to students, Oct. 21.
Jeff Determan, left, a Nuclear Field Coordinator at the Navy Recruiting Disctrict in San Francisco, presents information on how nuclear power can be used safely.
The session covered how nuclear energy works, how it was discovered and how it has progressed over the years. Determan also shared stories about life in a nuclear submarine.
Giving students a broader outlook on science in the real world, Herbert Kendall, physics and chemistry teacher, found the presentation very educational.
“I thought he did a really good job,” Kendall said. “He was able to answer many questions explaining how nuclear powerworks.”
