Each year, those who anticipate Christmas prepare by streaming lights along their roofs or setting up lawn ornaments. However, holiday decorations may only consist of a single stand of lights, or a wreath on the front door.
Cindy Lane Christmas light tradition, started in 1995, in the Clovis Wawona Ranch Estates housing community, gives residents the opportunity to escape the use of bland home trimmings by embellishing their homes with excessively bright and large ornaments. Citizens are allowed to walk or drive through the neighborhood to observe these homes.
While some homes display giant snowmen or Santa Claus figures, others express Christmas cheer through jolly decorations, such as gingerbread men and penguins. However, due to increasing energy bills, residents will not continue to showcase their homes any day after Christmas.
