For the first time this semester, the Asian club met to discuss upcoming field trips, potluck lunches and dinners and share cultural similarities and differences, including Asian holidays and traditions.
Freshmen Kristen Rosenthal brought fried rice and sushi, while Stephanie Peck provided egg wraps for the lunch. Each student was also given a gift bag which included Pocky chocolate, Mitsuya cider, fruit candy and a pamphlet welcoming them into the club.
“The first Asian Club meeting was a lot of fun because I got to eat sushi and fried rice,” freshman Maddie Yee, right, said. “Even though most of the people in the club are not Asian, it was cool to see the amount of people who attended. I look forward to the next meeting!”
Asian club members included students from China, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines, Japan and those who where born in the U.S. or have mixed backgrounds. Rosenthal later instructed the group on how to say hello in Japanese, creating a chain reaction of presenting five other language greetings.
The group plans on meeting every Monday at lunch, including next Monday, Dec. 14.
