A lot of photos on The Feather Online are accompanied by comprehensive captions that explain the background and events depicted, as described by The Feather’s writers and editors. However, the subject ? or victim ? of this photograph asked to tell this particular Dec. 14 story himself:
“In the world of soccer at Fresno Christian, a lot of bets go around. The seniors sometimes shave their heads at the Garces Tournament in a bet with the coach. This year, I as a sophomore made a bet with a freshman, Maddie Yee (left), that if she scored in her game the next day, I would shave my head,” sophomore Austin Rurik, (center, with half-shaved head) said.
“Since the girls’ team had played five games and not scored yet, I thought it would would be a safe bet. But she ended up scoring twice. And I lost my hair.
“I wasn’t sad as much as I was scared because I’d never had my head shaved before. It was the first time I’ve never had hair in my life. Now my head gets cold and Maddie Yee gets to take pictures of her prized possession: my white dome. Moral of the story: never bet against Maddie Yee for your hair.”
