A car snaking its way along the Alluvial parking strip jerked and inched near another parked vehicle as a frightened student tried to fit into the parallel parking spot. With new parking rules set in motion, many students are faced with difficult parking obstacles and dilemmas.

Many students on campus are not skilled in the area of parallel parking, which leaves their other driving peers at a high risk of accidents.

The new parking “”adjustments”” were a decision in which the staff allowed a few juniors to park in the main parking lot. The rest are left to fend for a spot on the Alluvial strip or by the tennis courts.

Naturally any student who wants to make it to class on time parks on the Alluvial strip, their lack of skill causing traffic congestion.

I think that there are other solutions to our parking problems. The staff could open the area next to the junior high basketball courts for parking.

I also think that there could have been some sort of voting process that the students could have participated in. The fact that the administration made all of these decisions which affect us greatly, without our input, is unfair.

Finally, the new parking rules are a large inconvenience on the students who drive themselves to school. Often seniors leave during the day, leaving empty spots in the lot unavailable to other students.

I am sure that there could have been some sort of a compromise in our parking dilemma; I feel that our student voices were not heard.
