As a way to get involved in the community, art students on campus participated in a local competition. This year was the first year that the Fresno Home and Garden Show created a garden art competition for high school and college students. Along with this, each student that placed won a certain amount of prize money.
Sophomore Bianca Hinojosa entered her white charcoal on black paper rose in the competition and won fourth place out of 50 entrees.
“We’re all very proud of her; she is very precise and disciplined in charcoal drawings,” Sharon Scharf, art teacher, said. “This competition was a great way to get the school’s name out there.”
