During an early morning of selling Kids Day papers, sophomore Nick Avery, front, and senior Tyler Duerr waved their wares wildly to passing cars.
Although they started in the early morning stillness of 5:30, by 7, there were so many cars whizzing by that conversation between opposite street corners was difficult for the volunteers, including the photographer.
However, their efforts “shot through” in the end, and the leadership and journalism volunteers sold 300 papers, earning $668 overall.
