Ever since the school year began, journalism adviser Greg Stobbe’s publications class works to inform and entertain readers through FC’s online newspaper, The Feather. The journalism class has been in continuous competitions, but just recently travelled to New York City to attend a conference at Columbia University; there they would see if the paper earned the top award, the Gold Crown.
Although the majority of the class left Fresno for the Big Apple, ten students remained at FC to keep the paper up and running to look good for its NY presentation. However, the remaining students struggled to produce the same amount of work that the whole class would normally produce due to the lack of editors.
However, during the fifth period journalism class, senior Amanda Edwards received a text message explaining The Feather’s first place victory at Columbia University. Despite the lack of writers, editors, and advisers in the classroom, The Feather still won the gold.
