As part of their final project, home economic students sew 20 quilts together for the Pregnancy Care Center. For the past three weeks, students have been creating these gifts, which were delivered May 25.
From left to right, junior Kasey Thompson, freshmen Brandon McCormick and Stephen Melendez, and sophomores Emily Daniels and Victoria Hindes, show Pregnancy Care Counselor Carol Dooley the baby quilts they made.
McCormick says the outing provided a rare experience for him, which taught him about some of the trials of abortion.
“I learned so much at the Pregnancy Care Center,” McCormick said. “I never knew there were so many effects of abortion.”
Home ec. teacher Sharon Scharf believes the annual trip helps students grasp the real-life ramifications of what the Pregnancy Care Center does.
“This experience is a real eye-opener for many students,” Scharf said. “Getting the whole picture gives the students perspective to help their friends and themselves understand the ramifications of abortion in a better light.”
