The junior varsity and varsity football team have practiced all summer in preparation for their upcoming 2010 season. Although they have scrimmaged Stone Ridge Christian and Madera South over the summer, they will open up the school year with a scrimmage at Mendota against both Mendota and Firebaugh, Aug. 27.
For the first home game, the Eagles and senior Andrew Evans (ball carrier) will scrimmage Minarets, Sept. 3. Assistant coach Ervin Hernandez says he looks forward to their first home game.
“Fridays will be a different feeling because we go into our locker room,” Hernandez said, “and once we get out, those Friday night lights will be waiting for us steps away.”
The new field will have full-size regulation goal posts and grandstands which accommodate 707 people. FC first compiled an 8-man varsity football team in the fall of 1986. In the fall of 1992, the first 11-man varsity team formed, and they have played all home games at Clark Intermediate in Clovis until now.
