As part of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee, ’98 alumnus Tony Losongco makes a presentation to Molly Sargent’s AP Language class, Sept. 14. Losongco discussed the resources and opportunities at Yale University and answered questions about admissions and financial aid.
“At every high school in the Valley, there are at least one or two students that are far and above the rest of the pack,” Losongco said. “There are a lot of students that I think could really use this sort of message to apply to whatever school they want to go to.”
In addition to providing general advice, Losongco described Yale’s residential college system, which randomly assigns students to one of 12 colleges at which to reside, and its “shopping period,” during which students can try out classes before registering for them.
He and other alumni are responsible for recruiting students and conducting interviews with applicants. After graduating from Fresno High School in 1994, Losongco went on to earn a degree in linguistics at Yale.
