Presented by Madera Historical Firefighters and City of Madera Parks and Community Services Department, the annual Heritage Day in the park is a day dedicated for family fun, Oct. 9. Nine publications students attended the event to volunteer and assist the firefighters in activities ranging from water games to face painting at Lions Town and Country Park in Madera.

Junior Victoria Hindes acts as leader in a game where children were given buckets of water and then put out the multiple fires throughout the house. These fires were made of wooden planks which would collapse under a certain amount of weight.
