Fresno Christian senior cheerleaders are honored before the football game during the annual senior night, Oct. 4.
All of the cheerleaders took part in various cheer clinics during their elementary years, sparking the desire to cheer throughout highschool.
Seniors (left to right) Rynna Silva, Milly Morgan, Chloe Johnson, Mallory Friesen, Zoe Blanchfield, Grace Mynderup and Presely Hale receive a sign made by student leadership and flowers. Tonight the team will be cheering on the football team.
Senior and football cheer captain Chloe Johnson has done competition cheer since she was only three years old, starting at Fresno Christian in 5th grade. Johnson hopes to continue cheering throughout her college years.
“I can’t remember a time where I haven’t cheered at a football game or competed with the cheer team at competitions. Everything the team participates in are my favorite memories. Although what I’ll miss the most in cheer is my teammates,” Johnson said. “Cheer is a sisterhood where we get to make amazing friendships. The bond of the team this year is the best! I truly love these girls and will miss having such great teammates to always be able to count on.”
Senior Grace Mynderup has been cheering since 5th grade. Mynderup shares how cheer has changed her experience at Fresno Christian throughout the years.
“I feel like cheer has allowed me to grow with the different grades, and get to know other classes better,” Mynderup said. “I also think that it has benefitted me to grow in relationships with other girls and establish a family at the same time.”
The theme for this football game is pink out for breast cancer awareness month. The cheer seniors will be repping their colorful spandex as a tradition that was started just a few years ago.
