Local winter shows light up stage

Fresno and Clovis theaters present holiday classics and timeless musicals

Winds blow colder, days get shorter and performers work tirelessly to perfect their shows as theaters around town prepare to produce their winter productions. From novice high school companies to professional theaters, a multitude of seasonal favorites like a “It’s A Wonderful Life” to the “Nutcracker” will take the stage in the coming months.

High School:

Dec. 5-7, 12-14 – Clovis High is performing “It’s A Wonderful Life” at Dan Pessano Theater
Jan. 16-18, 23-25 – Buchanan is performing “Wizard of Oz” at Mercedes Edwards Theater
Jan. 30 -Feb. 1, 6-8 – Clovis East is performing “A Voice in the Dark” at Dan Pessano Theater

Nutcracker:

Dec. 14 -15 – The Lively Arts Foundation presents The Central California Ballet performing “The Nutcracker” at Saroyan Theatre
Dec. 21 – World Ballet Company is performing “Nutcracker” at Saroyan Theatre

Nov. 14 – Jan. 12 – Roger Rocka is performing “Legally Blonde”
Feb. 4 – 5 – Shen Yun Performing Arts is performing “Shen Yun” at Saroyan Theatre
Feb. 11-12 – Broadway in Fresno is performing “Annie” at Saroyan Theatre
Feb. 16 – Saroyan Theatre is performing The Great Gatsby Ballet at Saroyan Theatre

Third year journalist, Erin Poudrier, ‘27, loves reporting about sports and interviewing others around town to share their stories. You can find her in the kitchen baking pastries and desserts or watching TV shows like “Gilmore Girls” and her favorite movie “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. She constantly plays with her cats and takes her dog for walks around her neighborhood and aspires to be a veterinarian in the future.

Madeleine Durham, A&E Editor

A&E Editor and third-year journalist Madeleine Durham, ‘26, continues her writing journey with The Feather Online. Durham values determination and honesty which transfer into her work as a writer and leader on the team. Her fascination with history inspires her to tell the stories of those around her, and fills her time with passions of nature and all things coffee. Durham often spends her time in a library or coffee shop and always keeps her eye out for anyone who needs help. She aspires to become a Criminal Psychologist to understand and help those in the justice system, guiding them to a better life and extending God’s kindness.
