The court waits for its champions, yearning for another year of domination. Fresno Christian Boys Volleyball amps up the heat as their season turns the bend. The team started this season confidently with the victorious taste of a 36-13 win/loss ratio. With several core players graduating last year, the boys’ varsity group needs to find a new mold and new playstyles in order to triumph. The bar is set high from last season’s victorious championship win, going 8-0 in their league.
Will they rise to the challenge and claim back-to-back domination? Varsity Captain Tyler Hamm, ‘25, has established himself as a core member and leader of the team, always remaining loyal to the program since he was a kid.
“My very first time playing volleyball and where I learned was with Coach Guglielmana,” Hamm said. “It was a very interesting turn around since I was six or seven years old learning how to play, and now he’s my high school coach as a Senior.”
Many new faces have appeared on the court this season. Recruits to the team include Junior Benson Elbert, along with freshmen Brogan Bay, Ethan Meyer and many more. New players have been filling important roles within the team since the beginning of the season, with Elbert being immediately placed as a varsity center guard. The team is trained by the seasoned head coach Steve Guglielmana and Freshman coach Justin Williams.
Coach Guglielmana tells The Feather how he measures success in his athletes beyond just wins and losses.
“The key point is if your athletes are moving on to be successful people in the real world,” Guglielmana said. “Are they showing the light of Christ after they move on.”

Captains and coaches both are confident with the skill of this year’s team with many of the new players stepping up to the challenge.
Freshman newbie, Ethan Meyer, is excited to take the first step into his volleyball career at Fresno Christian Schools.
“I love the fast pace and competitiveness of the game,” Meyer said. “I have to challenge myself a lot if I wish to grow as a player.”
Many students have faithfully returned to the sport year after year. Junior Varsity player Tycen Ramirez is a core factor within the team, he has played all three years of high school. He promises he’ll be back to play his senior year to complete a stacked athletic career.
“Even though I was forced into the sport when I was young,” Ramirez said. “I couldn’t help but legitimately fall in love with it later on.”
The boys’ team strives for victory on and off the court, so make sure to support your Eagles in their upcoming games.
