At the home volleyball game Oct. 7 between sets two and three members of the Track and Field team receive rings to celebrate their Division IV Championships, which was held at Caruthers high school May 16. During the championship Fresno Christian won four individual Division titles. At the ring ceremony Blake Bay, ‘27, Giada Gilmore Young, ‘27 and Sarah Guglielmana, ‘26 received rings for placing first in their sections.
Blake Bay won the Boys 3200 with a time of 9:36:56 minutes. Leading to the first of the four Individual Division titles.
Giada Gilmore-Young beat the competition in the Girls 300 Hurdles, leaping not only the hurdles but the competition with a final time of 48.78 seconds.
Sarah Guglielmana won not one but two of the teams championships in the discus she had a hurling toss of 105 ‘6.5″. In the shot put event, she threw 34 ‘7.5 “. Guglielmana received these awards for her first year of track and field, learning skills through dedicated time and effort.
“It was a true experience to come in my first year of track and be blessed by amazing coaches,” Guglielmana said. “Every practice, every team bonding every meet we grew closer together as a team through God. Winning valleys for shot put and discus was unexpected but was an amazing experience seeing my time paid off and how much my coaches pushed me to get there.”
Alongside their athletes, coaches received rings as recognition for their time and dedication during the season. Coach Adam Bay trained mid-distance and distance runners, one of his players includes his son Blake. Coach Dave Koretoff is the current record holder for men’s Shot Put and Discus. This last year he coached the throwers which includes Sarah. Coach Dorina Gilmore-Young concentrated on coaching hurdlers but always helped lead the team as much as possible. Coach Shawn Young focused on all the players making sure he took his time to coach everyone and help guide them to this victory.
