The Feather Online introduces the new 2019-20 gallery to their SmugMug account, Oct. 15. SmugMug gives anyone the opportunity to buy and download photos captured at school events such as chapels, sports and homecoming.
All photos available on SmugMug are taken by photojournalists on The Feather including, Bella Johns, Sarah Smith, Paige Provost, Annabelle Messer, Megan LeBlanc and photo editor, Avery Jones.
On The Feather’s home page, the last column on the left side of the screen indicates, ‘Buy Photos’. If users click on that link, it will take them to another browser where they can choose from which year and which photo event to purchase photos from.
Each photo costs $1.29 and purchase requires a credit card or a debit card. Once the purchase is successful, the user has the ability to download the photos to keep. Each image is high resolution and large enough to print in a large format.
All money raised from SmugMug goes toward supplies and new equipment for the journalism, photojournalism and video journalism teams. Last year’s total income was $700 and The Feather’s advisers, Greg Stobbe and Kori Friesen, hope to raise more money each year SmugMug is available. With an income of already $200 this school year, the photojournalism team will continue to upload more photos to surpass last year’s total.
